Apple iSpace

Fact: Research shows the benefits of spending the first hour of the day away from mobile phones.

Challenge:

To provide an easy way to motivate phone-conscious individuals to spend the first hour of the day away from their phones, encouraging them to spend this time connecting with themselves.

Insight:

Getting a balance between the digital and real world is hard

Idea summarised: Give users a daily break from their phones with "Brick Mode", a new Apple feature that only permits the use of essential apps. The more hours the phone spends in Brick mode, the more experiences are unlocked.

Apple iSpace is a new feature that will be automatically installed on all Apple devices.

iSpace will activate a new mode on iPhones called "Brick Mode"  - a new Apple feature that only permits the use of essential apps, minimising the constant intrusive noise of mobile phones for the first hour of the day, as well as when the mode is switched on.

During this hour, users can use iSpace on their laptops as a private and safe space for the person to connect and work on themselves. This platform will have morning meditations, morning music playlists, workout recommendations and a digital journal all in one place.

As well as this, iSpace will send recommendations on the desktop of local places the user can visit during this free hour, as well as book recommendations and where may be nice to read them. The directions to these places can be accessed via maps on brick mode and connected to an  Apple Watch.

The number of hours the phone spends in Brick Mode will appear on the top left corner of the desktop screen (see above). The number of hours will unlock different free experiences, with smaller prizes including free coffee and cake coupons, and larger experience rewards including cool experiences such as paddleboat, museum exhibitions, concerts, art materials, and a restaurant meal.
